Took a CO-OP at SpaceX the following fall after my Northrop Grumman internship, on Starshield as a Gateway Engineer.
Went head first owning the enclosure for a new Starshield ground station. Mocking up requirements, initial designs, and preliminary tests.
At the same time leading a vibration and thermal qualification campaign for a ground station signal chain.
Side quested and designed a low cost thermoformed shroud to mitigate EMI emissions.
Also in two weeks design and built a critical test bed to show off program capabilities and unblock testing efforts.
Did I do alot? Yeah. But did I love it. Yes.
I learned a lot about the type of engineer I want to be, the work I like doing, and how fast I want to move.
